In Conversation with Adrian Chiarella & Joe Bird of ‘Leviticus’
Everything you need from both episodes of Emsolation this week.
It’s finally here, Em & her bestie Michael sit down with Michael’s husband Adrian Chiarella, the director & writer of ‘Leviticus’, & one of the stars of the movie, Joe Bird.
Obviously the focus at the very beginning is finding out what Em thought of the film, famously Em isn’t a fan of horror movies, but she has watched ‘Leviticus’ & is finally ready to share her unfiltered thoughts & review.
There’s the soundtrack to discuss, the themes, the longing between the main characters, the atmosphere & locations of the movie & how Joe’s work in ‘Talk To Me’ impacted his casting in the role.
Michael tries to do a scared reaction face like Joe, there’s also ‘Twilight’ chat, Etsy witches, the Sundance Film Festival & more.
Adrian also takes us behind the scenes on the location scouting for the movie, the colour palette & what he is like when he’s on set & actually filming.
Comparing Childhood Core Moments with Joe Bird
Then in our Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, Em & Michael are keen to compare the tv show, movie & album that stood out & helped define their childhoods, with the ones that impacted & defined the life of 19 year old Joe Bird.
To make sure there’s no cheating, they’ll reveal their choices to each other visually first, to see if each can identify the others picks at first glance.
So if you are playing along without the visuals, Em & Michael’s defining childhood choices are ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, Alanis Morrisette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’ & ‘Pretty Woman’. Joe’s choices are ‘Summer Heights High’, Frank Ocean's ‘Blonde’ & ‘The Greatest Showman’.
Even though Adrian’s only 2 years younger than Em & Michael, his faves were the same for the album, but his movie was a choice between ‘Aliens’ & ‘Terminator 2’ whilst his defining TV show was ‘Dawson's Creek’.

“Rusciano gives us a show powered by anger, revenge & the late discovery that being seen naked again can be motivational. But she also gives us something more generous: a furious invitation to stop making men the air in their lungs”

What makes Addicted to Love so compelling is that it isn’t really about romantic love at all. It is about the many things we become attached to – approval, validation, certainty, expectations – and the liberation that comes when we finally let them go.

This is a wonderful night of theatre where you will think deeply about the widening gap between women & men. It is an eye- opening, confronting, downright laugh out loud hilarious, communal evening. We leave uplifted & empowered. Do not miss seeing this woman!
